Crowns & Veneers

A Crown is a type of tooth restoration it is a piece of ceramic made to cover a persons tooth. Here at Rocky Lane we can make your crown for you in one visit, head over to the CEREC section to find out more!

Crowns are often used: where a tooth is damaged or cracked in some way, to replace an old crown or filling that is no longer sound, under certain circumstances after root canal treatment or simply just for cosmetic benefits.

Porcelain veneers are a practical way to preserve, restore and enhance the appearance of teeth that may be chipped, discoloured, unevenly spaced or slightly crooked.

Veneers will often help produce a more natural, pleasing smile and can often be applied in as few as two visits although this may vary, depending upon the particular patient needs and the history of the case.

Dental Bridge

Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth. There are several types of fixed dental bridges (which cannot be removed), including: conventional fixed, cantilever and resin-bonded bridges.

Tooth loss may result from gum disease, tooth decay or traumatic injury. It is very important to replace missing teeth. If missing teeth aren't replaced there is a risk of a shift in remaining teeth (into the gap), a reduction in the ability to properly bite and chew.  It's possible that the facial appearance may show signs of sagging, which often gives the impression of being older than you really are.

Conventional and cantilever bridges typically require shaping and preparation of the teeth either side of a missing tooth. Crowns are placed on the shaped teeth and the artificial tooth "bridges" the gap (this is called a pontic).

A resin-bonded bridge requires less preparation of adjacent teeth.  Provided that the gums are healthy and the surrounding teeth do not have extensive dental fillings resin bonded bridges are often used to replace front teeth,

Dentures

Complete dentures are used to replace missing teeth, for those who have lost all their teeth. Alternatively, partial dentures or an overdenture, may also be used for people who still have several of their own teeth remaining.

Dentures today are well designed and carefully made to be comfortable and functional. They are very similar in appearance to natural teeth and thoughtfully produced to blend with the patient's looks and personality. Here at Rocky Lane we work closely with the laboratories to get our patients dentures fitting snugly and looking natural.

Where required, it is possible to secure dentures with the use of dental implants.

White fillings

A filling is used to repair minimal tooth fractures, tooth decay or otherwise damaged surfaces of the teeth.

Dental filling materials include: composite, porcelain and silver amalgam.

White, composite material has become much more popular as it has a very natural appearance also,  it is superior to metal fillings or crowns as less tooth enamel has to be removed during the application process. At Rocky Lane we do not do amalgam fillings, we prefer white and porcelain as they are far more aesthetically pleasing and much better environmentally.

Children's Dentistry

Children of private patients are very welcome to receive their NHS treatment at Rocky Lane Dental.

We see them twice a year for regular check ups and we help them to grow up free from dental disease. Regular monitoring of teeth is necessary to prevent enamel loss and gum problems and, as children get older, crowded or crooked teeth can be corrected by assessing the need for orthodontic treatment.

Hygienist Services

Dental hygienists are licensed, oral health professionals specialising in prevention and treatment of oral diseases and are the essential first line of defence in keeping your teeth in great condition for life.

We recommend regular scaling and polishing to remove stains and harmful bacteria that build up. If left untreated the bacteria may cause irritation and ultimately lead to gum disease which is the No.1 cause of tooth loss in adults.

Our hygienist will guide you through the best options and methods for keeping your teeth and gums healthy as well as giving advice on a range of issues such as: treatment of early stages of gum disease, treatment of sensitive teeth through to the care and hygiene of dental implants.

Tooth Whitening

Virtually everyone who opts for a tooth whitening option sees a moderate to substantial improvement in the brightness and whiteness of their smile which in turn gives a great boost to their individual appearance and general confidence.

However, whitening is not considered a permanent solution and will require regular maintenance or "touch ups" for prolonged effect.

At Rocky Lane Dental we offer a range of excellent whitening products and services that we can tailor precisely to your needs and to the condition of your teeth.
